Regional products: the taste of the Brugse Ommeland
De Haan sits on the edge of the coast and the green Brugse Ommeland, a region known for its regional beers and artisanal farm produce, which you can sample to your heart's content in the village cafés and on the terraces.
- Regional beers from the Ommeland: the Brugse Ommeland is a paradise for the beer lover, with numerous artisanal breweries. Many cafés and terraces proudly list these local regional beers, perfect to try after a walk along the promenade.
- Coffee from home ground: the neighbouring village of Wenduine, part of the municipality of De Haan, is home to the organic coffee of Koffie Kàn, a recognised West Flemish regional product, lovely with a pastry on one of the many terraces.
- Fresh from farm and sea: in the polders around De Haan you'll find farm produce straight from the farm, from cheese and dairy to fruit juice and jam, while the coast provides day-fresh North Sea fish and grey shrimp.
- Belle époque with your coffee: nowhere does a coffee and cake taste as good as on a terrace in the Concessie district, among the preserved belle-époque villas, where the fashionable atmosphere of old still lingers. Albert Einstein too liked to have his coffee on the terrace of the Belle Vue hotel in 1933.
